Overview

253MA is a grade combining excellent service properties at high temperatures with ease of fabrication. It resists oxidation at temperatures up to 1150°C and can provide superior service to Grade 310 in carbon, nitrogen and sulphur containing atmospheres. 253MA contains fairly low nickel content, which gives it some advantage in reducing sulphide atmospheres when compared to high nickel alloys and to Grade 310. The inclusion of high silicon, nitrogen and cerium contents gives the steel good oxide stability, high elevated temperature strength and excellent resistance to sigma phase precipitation.

253MA is a heat-resistant (Austenitic stainless steel) designed for applications requiring high creep strength and good corrosion resistance. Its operating temperature range is 850~1100 ℃.

The chemical composition of 253MA is balanced, so that the steel has suitable properties in the temperature range of 850℃-1100℃. It has good high temperature corrosion resistance and balance brush corrosion resistance in most gas media; high yield strength and tensile strength at high temperature; good formability and weldability, and sufficient machinability.

In addition to the alloying elements chromium and nickel, 253MA stainless steel also contains a small amount of rare earth metals (Rare Earth Metals, REM), which significantly improves its capabilities. Nitrogen is added to improve creep properties and make this steel austenitic. Despite the relatively low chromium and nickel content, this stainless steel has in many cases the same high temperature properties as highly alloyed steel alloys and nickel-based alloys.

253MA application range Application field: 253MA is widely used in sintering equipment, blast furnace equipment, steel melting, furnace and continuous casting equipment, rolling mill (heating furnace), heat treatment furnace and accessories, mineral equipment and cement production equipment.
